Grothe Power Tower is a sustainable energy storage device for homes and local communities using surplus energy from solar panels and wind turbines, stored in water tower like devices, and converted by hydrogen fuelcells into electricity for nights or windless days. Towers have no moving parts, scalable to any electrical demand, lasts 15-20 years, easy to transport by rail, truck, or ship to any location, and safe to operate near residential home or local community.

Explore with us the latest in energy storage technology, devices, solutions, and sustainability. No culture has been able to survive without the ability to store energy in some kind of usable form. The strongest challenge facing people today lies in our ability to supply the energy needed to survive, while the worldwide oil, natural gas, and coal reserves begin to dwindle under an ever increasing demand. The strongest sustainable solutions that present themselves today comes from using solar panels and wind turbines to supply the electrical energy we need to the utility grids. The challenge in using both these renewable energy sources is the intermittent nature of the energy they produce; only when the sun shines or the winds blow does the electricity flow. The intermittent nature of these primary sources of renewable energy needs a third solution in order to work effectively. They need a sustainable, clean, and fully scalable energy storage solution.
Adding the innovative ideas of Scott Brusaw's solar roadways, solar parking lots, and solar pathways across the world solves where to get that surplus energy (see energy weblinks for url), but it still leaves us with 12 hours darkness per day, where at any given time of the day, half the world is unable to produce solar power. Transmitting and moving electricity around the world's electric grid from one side of the world to the other as needed is totally impractical and terribly inefficient. The solution needs to be closer to the electrical demands of the people, inside the communities where they live, work, and play. The surplus energy produced during the sunlight hours or when the wind is blowing, needs to be stored locally and returned to the electrical grid on demand during the off-peak times of the renewable energy sources.
Energy storage is an exciting area to be involved in today, because the basic component of any energy system is its energy storage devices, technologies, delivery, and sustainability. The Grothe Power Tower takes these ideas and incorporates them into a comprehensive energy storage device solution that is renewable and green, can be scaled to any size electrical need, remains close to the residential and commercial demands for that energy, and is very efficient with no moving parts to break or need repairs.
As an added bonus the Grothe Power Tower stored energy(hydrogen) can be directly used to
1) power electrical fuelcell/hydrogen vehicles (we have seen and driven working cars, trucks, buses, and boats from US, European, Asian, and India waiting to be rolled out onto dealer floors when the public is ready)
2) heat people's homes through existing natural gas pipelines
3) water tower can be designed to produce clean drinkable water from practically any water source.
